Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity builds and sells affordable homes with qualified applicants.
From the date of application to the date of closing on the home, the applicants could possibly spend a year to eighteen months in the program. In addition to purchasing a home with an affordable mortgage, each applicant must first attend the educational requirements through the year, including our Home Advantage courses and Financial Peace University. Each applicant must also contribute "sweat equity" hours building Habitat homes, building their own home, and assisting with other volunteer activities for Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity.
With the use of volunteer labor and an affordable mortgage payment, Habitat homes are kept affordable for the future home buyers. Before closing, each home buyer must also pay the closing costs for their mortgage, which could be $2,000 or higher.
If you have a need for housing, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity, contact our offices today at 528-1711 (ext. 4).

Neighbor 2 Neighbor is a repair program of Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity. This program is for senior residents of Putnam and Overton counties who need affordable repairs done to a home that they currently own and live in. The focus is on seniors age 60 and above and focuses on accessibility improvements, mobility modifications, weatherization enhancements, and critical home repairs that are crucial to help seniors live in their own homes longer. Upper Cumberland HFH wants to make continued homeownership for seniors a reality so they can age in place with the comfort and dignity they deserve.
The funding for this project was provided through a grant awarded by the Davidson County Chancery Court, Part III from the SeniorTrust/ElderTrust settlement (Case No. 11-1548-III) and through a contract administered by the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability.
This program receives additional financial support from a variety of sources, including private donors and The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnatti.
Projects can include items such as: wheelchair ramps, creating accessibility options, weatherization, and other repair projects. Cosmetic repair, such as painting, are not included.
