Ms. L.

Ms. M. moved to Livingston with her family from California ten years ago. After graduating from TCAT with a certification in Pharmacy Tech, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Ms. M. and her son, currently living with family, are looking forward to gaining independence and room to grow in their new Habitat home. "I feel like this opportunity is making me a better mom," says Ms. M., who currently works full time as a Pharmacy Technician. Her son is most excited about his new bedroom and huge backyard. This home will give the M family stability, safety, and a healthy place to thrive and live.
Ms. H was first introduced to Habitat for Humanity through a close friend, who owns a Habitat home. She first applied a few years ago but did not qualify at the time. Our Director of Homeowner Services worked with her to determine what she needed to do to qualify. Since then, Ms. H. has worked hard to decrease her debt and increase her income, and this year she was finally accepted!
With a new, energy efficient home in her sights, Ms. H. says she is most looking forward to finally having a yard and room for her girls to ride bikes, as well as extra space for her Paparazzi business.

Ms. L. originally moved to the Upper Cumberland area in 2005. Facing health issues that forced her to stop working, she quickly discovered that finding affordable housing while on disability would be next to impossible. Because of this she moved in with her son, who lived in the Sparta area at the time. Ms. L. has spent the last fifteen years taking turns living with each of her four sons, wanting so desperately to have her independence back.
She heard about Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program through an acquaintance who had gone through it and now owns an affordable home. “This is the only way I would ever be able to afford to own my own home,” states Ms. L. “It’s a huge dream of mine to be a homeowner, and now it’s actually going to happen!”
