Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity builds and sells affordable homes with qualified applicants.
From the date of application to the date of closing on the home, the applicants could possibly spend a year to eighteen months in the program. In addition to purchasing a home with an affordable mortgage, each applicant must first attend the educational requirements through the year, including our Home Advantage courses and Financial Peace University. Each applicant must also contribute "sweat equity" hours building Habitat homes, building their own home, and assisting with other volunteer activities for Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity.
With the use of volunteer labor and a zero percent interest on the mortgage, Habitat homes are kept affordable for the future home buyers. Before closing, each home buyer must also pay the closing costs for their mortgage, which could be $2,000 or higher.
If you have a need for housing, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity, contact our offices today at 528-1711 (ext. 5).
